We bought this binder after the previous one we had purchased (a different style) ripped along the zipper seam within a week or so of school starting. This one is holding up very well. We've had it for several weeks and there are no signs that it is ripping so I am very pleased. The reason I bought this one, above the others? I went to my daughter's class, a combined class with 4th and 5th graders, and asked to see all of the binders. The binders of this exact style were NOT ripped, while a bunch of other styles were. So I chose this one. After inspecting the differences between this binder and the other one that ripped, I am convinced that the problem with the others is the position of the zipper. On this binder, the zipper is placed in the middle of the fabric that it is zipping closed (see the picture of the open binder to see what I mean). On the other binders that rip, the zipper is set very close to either the top or the bottom of the binder. This results in too much pressure on the larger piece of fabric, and the fabric rips right at the zipper seam. Anyway, this one seems to be holding up pretty good. Hopefully we will make it through the whole school year!

I just started using this binder...I bought it to use as a coupon binder..it seems very cheap..not very strong..very flimsy...ive seen binders at Office Max for the same price that seemed much stronger than this one.

My son complains that the rings come open during transport at school. I have not checked this out myself but it does seem that the clamping is not strong enough.
